thanks for the whole lot of useful information. hosting is always full of unsolved questions and this site answers some of the important ones involving options about hosting. there are useful bits of information about e-commerce and managed server hosting. bluehost, jumpline and core commerce look to be more promising and i guess i need to return for updates.

Hostgator are, in my opinion, a decent company. I currently host with them and from what I’ve seen, there hasn’t been any downtime problems and the support team have been able to fix the problems I’ve had. My overall opinion? Definitely recommended.
